Camp Out with a Good Book! Summer Reading Program

Camp Out with a Good Book! offers students the opportunity to have fun reading all summer long while avoiding the summer slide many children experience over the summer.  Help your child develop a love of books and reading that lasts a lifetime.  Encourage reading, visit the public library often, talk about books and read with your child no matter how old they are.

TCE’s reading requirement during the school year and summer is to read 4 or more days a week.  This adds up to approximately 40 days this summer!  Rising 1st graders should read at least fifteen minutes at each sitting while rising 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th graders should read at least twenty minutes.  Your child’s new teacher (1st through 5th grade) will expect completion of the summer reading program at the start of the school year.  Please encourage your child to reach this goal with positive encouragement.

Students, if you PARTICIPATE in the reading camp out, you earn a prize.
But if you COMPLETE the reading camp out, you:

* Earn a prize
* Get your name on the Camp Out reading board
