Sunshine State Jr. Young Readers Award 2022-2023<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h3>\n

\"SSYRA<\/a><\/p>\n

The SSYRA Jr. program is a statewide reading program for kindergarten through second grade students.<\/strong> The mission of the SSYRA Jr. program is to develop students’ interest in reading for pleasure by exposing them to a wide range of appropriate literature. Sunshine State Jr. books are selected for their wide appeal, literary value, varied genres, curriculum connections, and\/or multicultural representation. Students are encouraged to listen to these books read to them, read them in a small group setting, or read independently to develop skills in fluency and comprehension.<\/p>\n

Timberlin Creek’s SSYRA Jr. program will start at Timberlin in January.\u00a0 Some of the titles will be read to kindergarten, first and second grade classes as they visit the media center.\u00a0 Students will have access to all the books with a small grade level library that will travel from room to room.\u00a0 In April students will celebrate the program in the media center by voting for their favorite book, participating in book discussions and creating something artistic relating to one or more of the books.<\/p>\n
